The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced new significant archaeological discoveries. A local resident informed specialists about the finding of a stone with an ancient inscription in the settlement of Behbeit el-Hagar, located in the Nile Delta.
Archaeologists arrived at the site after this and began rescue excavations. As a result of this work, many artifacts were discovered, among which are particularly notable parts of two massive statues.
These statues belong to the third pharaoh of the XIX Dynasty, Ramses II, who ruled approximately from 1279 to 1213 BCE. According to preliminary estimates by scientists, these statues could have originally stood about 8.5 meters tall. The Egyptian official bodies reported this find through their Facebook social media page.
