Ayurveda Director MIS Discusses the Benefits of Ayurvedic Remedies for Treating Heart Problems

In recent years, people have increasingly turned to Ayurveda to treat various diseases, and in many cases, they report a significant improvement in their well-being. However, a question arises: can herbs or Ayurvedic medicines help cure heart diseases, especially heart blockages?

To find out, Aajtak.in conducted an interview with Professor (Vaidya) Pradip Kumar Prajapati, Director of the Institute of Ayurveda at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. Vaidya Pradip explained that atherosclerosis occurs due to the accumulation of cholesterol and other substances in the heart's arteries, leading to arterial narrowing and increasing the risk of a heart attack.

Ayurveda has numerous preparations to support heart health and balance fats and cholesterol in the body. Studies have been conducted on remedies such as Arjuna, Guduchi, garlic, and amla, which have shown the ability to lower cholesterol levels and reduce several risks associated with heart diseases in some studies.

Nevertheless, it cannot be claimed that Ayurvedic preparations can completely eliminate the buildup of blockages in the heart's blood vessels. It is important to understand that high cholesterol in the blood and blockages in the arteries are two different conditions. Lowering cholesterol levels does not mean that blockages in the heart's vessels have disappeared.

Therefore, people suffering from heart artery blockages should continue taking medications and undergoing treatment prescribed by a doctor. Ayurvedic remedies can be used as complementary treatment upon a specialist's recommendation. Regular physical exercise and attention to diet are also extremely important.

Korardhana is traditionally used in Ayurveda to maintain heart health due to the presence of natural components that benefit heart diseases. However, there is no single safe and suitable dosage or method of administration for everyone; therefore, before using Korardhana, one must consult a doctor.

It is important to note that although Korardhana is an Ayurvedic treatment method, modern medical science has no evidence that it can reduce the risk of a heart attack or eliminate blockages in the heart's arteries.
