Free education for workers' children: Life is changing in the Atal residential school complex

Children of workers whose parents work in brick factories or construction sites often face difficulties in receiving quality education due to financial problems, which limits their life aspirations. However, the Atal Residential School Complex in Muradabad strives to change the future of these children by providing them with better education and amenities. Students at this educational institution now dream of becoming IAS, IPS officers, judges, doctors, and teachers.

Currently, 718 students are studying at the school. This residential complex functions to provide quality education to children from working and economically vulnerable families, offering free accommodation and meals. Thanks to the improved educational environment, children's confidence is growing, and they are setting more ambitious goals.

The Atal Residential School Complex features modern smart classrooms and laboratories for learning. Additionally, dormitories for accommodation, a cafeteria for meals, RO water purification systems, and sports fields are available. Students are provided with textbooks and essential living supplies free of charge. Since students live directly on the school grounds, they have regular time for classes and a favorable environment for studying. In addition to academic knowledge, personal development is emphasized; students also read English newspapers, which helps improve their language skills and general knowledge.

The free provision of accommodation, meals, and education reduces the financial burden on workers' families. With good facilities, children have the opportunity to focus on their studies and preparation for the future. The installation of air conditioning systems is planned to further improve the school's conditions. In the future, the school plans to increase its capacity to approximately 1000 students to provide quality education to a larger number of children from working families.

The dreams of the students at this school demonstrate how their outlook on the future is changing thanks to receiving a better education and amenities. Some aspire to join the civil service, others want to serve in the army as doctors, and some wish to build a career in the judiciary or education sector.

Rajendra Kumar, an eighth-grade student, previously attended his village's secondary school. He noted that it lacked the amenities found at the Atal Residential School Complex. Thanks to the improved education and living and dining conditions, he has been able to focus on his studies and aims to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Lakshmi, an eleventh-grade student, comes from a low-income family, and her father is a worker. Lakshmi shared that before enrolling in the school, she had no clear idea about her future or how to achieve her goals. However, thanks to the better education and amenities, her confidence has grown, and she now wants to become a doctor in the army. Ritika Chauhan, a tenth-grade student whose father works as a loader, said she never thought she would get the chance to study in such a good school and use such facilities. She plans to become a teacher after graduation. Uday Pratap, an eleventh-grade student whose father is a worker, explained that attending private schools is expensive for ordinary families. In contrast, at the Atal Residential School Complex, he receives better education and amenities. After gathering information, he chose a humanities subject, aiming to enter the civil service and become an IAS officer. Bhuvnesh, a tenth-grade student whose father is a mason, shared that she used to worry about continuing her studies and achieving her dreams. But after receiving better facilities at school, her confidence grew, and she now wants to become a judge. Divyanshi, a ninth-grade student, previously attended a government rural school, and her father is involved in agriculture. Divyanshi reported that she never thought she would have the opportunity to study in a good school. The favorable educational environment and amenities inspired her to pursue her goal of becoming an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.

The school director, T.P. Singh, emphasized that the main focus is on creating a conducive educational atmosphere for students, including smart classrooms, dormitories, and other facilities.
