Erkinjon Turdimov outlined the priorities of higher education in Uzbekistan

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Science of Uzbekistan, Erkinjon Turdimov, reviewed reports from representatives of the higher education sector. He examined the current state of the system, ongoing reforms, and future development directions.

One of the key areas identified was improving the quality of university education and aligning curricula with labor market demands. Special attention was paid to strengthening ties between science and industry so that students can apply their acquired knowledge in practice and develop necessary professional skills.

Participants in the meeting also discussed the need to create favorable conditions for students, deepen the study of specialized disciplines and foreign languages, as well as support graduate employment.

Other priorities mentioned included developing the research potential of universities, supporting faculty staff, implementing scientific developments into the real economy, and expanding international cooperation.

After the presentations, the importance of shifting the focus of higher education was emphasized—it should prepare not just diploma recipients, but independent young specialists with deep knowledge and well-formed professional competencies.

Turdimov stressed the necessity of thoroughly analyzing existing problems, defining specific measures to solve them, and achieving tangible results in each of the designated priority areas.
