A meeting of the trade working group was held in Ankara, attended by representatives from the ministries of Uzbekistan and Turkey. The main objective of these negotiations was to eliminate trade barriers and achieve a target turnover of 5 billion dollars.
Participants discussed the need to simplify the process of bringing goods to markets, as well as reducing both tariff and non-tariff restrictions, striving to create more favorable conditions for business between the countries.
Key areas of cooperation
Agriculture, light industry, and electrical engineering were identified as priority areas for cooperation. Furthermore, the parties considered issues of standardization, quality control, and mutual recognition of conformity certificates, which is intended to facilitate exports and reduce enterprise costs.
A special technical working group will be formed to work on issues related to electrical engineering products. The possibility of expanding the existing Preferential Trade Agreement to include a wider range of goods and provide exporters with additional opportunities was also discussed.
A protocol was signed following the meeting, officially recording the agreements reached. The next step will be the development of specific measures aimed at simplifying trade operations and achieving the goal of increasing trade turnover to 5 billion dollars. Previously, the parties had already announced plans to increase mutual trade in agricultural products.
