Volkswagen will replace the ID.4 with the new ID. Tiguan, arriving in Brazil with a price equivalent to R$ 238 thousand

Volkswagen plans to discontinue the electric SUVs ID.4 and ID.5, introducing the model named ID. Tiguan in their place, which takes the name of their best-selling vehicle globally.

This mid-size SUV was revealed on Thursday (9) and will go on pre-sale in Germany this Tuesday (13), with an initial value equivalent to R$ 238 thousand (42,695 euros). The first deliveries in Europe are expected in early 2027.

In terms of design, the new model features a more square look, moving away from the rounded shapes present in other cars of the ID. family, in addition to adopting traditional door handles.

The ID. Tiguan will be marketed alongside the combustion engine Tiguan and its hybrid variants. The entry-level version has rear-wheel drive, a 190 hp electric motor, and a 58 kWh battery. An intermediate option offers 286 hp and a 77 kWh battery, maintaining rear-wheel drive.

At the top of the line, the 4MOTION configuration features two motors, all-wheel drive, delivers 299 hp, and uses the same 77 kWh battery. According to VW, the range can reach 600 km in the European WLTP cycle, a more optimistic figure than the standard used by Inmetro in Brazil. Towing capacity ranges between 1,800 kg and 2,000 kg, depending on the installed battery.

Internally, Volkswagen has reduced digitalization, reintegrating physical controls for crucial functions: the steering wheel now has conventional keys, the air conditioning system has returned to having buttons, and the volume control is done via a rotary selector on the console.

The dashboard combines a 10-inch instrument cluster with a 15-inch multimedia center. It is possible to add a third 12-inch screen for the passenger as an accessory, protected by a film that prevents the driver's view. An additional feature is the Retro mode, which displays the blue and red indicators of the Golf IV on the dashboard.

The trunk accommodates 534 liters, and there is a front storage space of 32 liters designated for storing charging cables. On the other hand, the ID.4 is already available at Brazilian dealerships starting from R$ 299,990, launching on Thursday (15), after three years of being available only through subscription. According to Quatro Rodas, the arrival of the ID. Tiguan in the Brazilian market will depend on the performance of its predecessor in local sales.
