Amazon negotiates acquisition of AI startup Decart, valued at US$ 7 billion

Amazon is in negotiations to acquire the artificial intelligence startup Decart, whose estimated value is around US$ 7 billion (equivalent to BRL 34.86 billion). This company possesses specialized software that simplifies communication between various chips used in AI systems.

Founded in 2023, Decart also works on developing advanced models capable of creating and simulating three-dimensional scenarios. According to The Wall Street Journal, although the deal closing may happen soon, there is a possibility that the conversations could fail or that another buyer might emerge.

With its headquarters located in San Francisco, United States, Decart offers tools that allow developers to switch between different artificial intelligence processors. The startup has already raised over US$ 400 million (BRL 1.99 billion) in investment capital, according to data provided by PitchBook. Among the investors supporting the company are Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, and Radical Ventures.

In May, Decart's valuation was nearly US$ 4 billion (BRL 19.92 billion). The amount currently being discussed with Amazon reflects a considerably higher valuation, despite there being no official confirmation yet regarding the completion of the deal.

Decart was established by Israeli engineers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf, who are brothers, along with Moshe Shalev. Furthermore, the company developed the Lucy and Oasis models, which are capable of generating and simulating virtual environments.

The proximity to Amazon already includes access to the retail giant's proprietary processors. In 2025, Amazon Web Services (AWS), the company's cloud computing unit, offered the startup early access to Trainium3, a chip created to compete with Nvidia's products, which remains the leader in the GPU market widely used in AI applications.

The Wall Street Journal reported that AWS initiated this process after holding meetings with Decart's founders and expressing interest in the team.

This potential acquisition is part of a history of major corporate moves by Amazon in recent years. In 2022, the company acquired the film and television studio MGM for US$ 6.5 billion (BRL 32.37 billion). More recently, this year, a deal worth approximately US$ 11 billion (BRL 54.78 billion) involving Globalstar, a competitor of Starlink, was announced.

Discussions with Decart are ongoing. If the deal is finalized, Amazon will integrate a company that creates both tools for manipulating different chips and models capable of simulating virtual environments.
