Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) reported that an energy storage capacity of 131.2 MWh was implemented in the second quarter of fiscal year 27. Furthermore, the company doubled its increase in utility-scale power generation capacity by adding 419 megawatts between July and September 2026, significantly exceeding the 182 MW commissioned the previous year.
During the first half of fiscal year 27, TPREL launched several key projects. These included the Jewali wind energy project with a capacity of 100.8 MW, the Kalasar FDRE project, which incorporates 227.5 MW of solar capacity and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of 101.2 MWh, as well as the closed projects for Kayathar Group with a capacity of 100 MW and Tata Steel with a capacity of 72.5 MW.
Thanks to these new installations, the company's operational portfolio in the utility sector has grown to 7.2 GW. This portfolio comprises 5.8 GW of solar generation, 1.3 GW of wind generation, and 281.2 MWh of battery storage capacity. TPREL's expansion in renewable energy continues to support India's transition to clean energy, contributing to national energy security and sustainable development.
It is expected that over 2 GW of projects will be implemented in the second half of fiscal year 27, including 1075 MW of solar, 969 MW of wind, and 274 MWh of BESS. In addition to its own initiatives, up to 300 MW of third-party projects are planned for implementation during the second half of fiscal year 27.
By the end of the current year, nearly 9.3 GW of projects are expected to be realized, consisting of 6899 MW of solar, 2298 MW of wind, and 555.2 MWh of battery storage. In fiscal year 28, the remaining projects totaling about 2.6 GW will be completed, including 570 MW of solar, 350 MWh of battery storage, and 1700 MW of wind energy, leading to TPREL's total operational capacity of 12 GW.
