First test run of e-CMR expected in mid-October this year

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) plans to conduct the first test launch of electronic international consignment notes e-CMR in mid-October of this year. This was reported by the First Department of Russia TIV MDH within the department of Eurasian economic integration.

Specifically, the message indicates that the launch of the first test run of e-CMR along the Kazakhstan-Russia route is scheduled for October 15, 2026.

Preliminary results of the work within the pilot project on the introduction of electronic international consignment notes e-CMR were discussed at the Eurasian Economic Commission. It was noted that information cooperation has currently been established between electronic document operators and foreign digital signature verification operators, cross-border trust activities have been ensured, and the process of drafting and signing e-CMR has been digitized.

The next stage will be conducting full-scale test runs and using the electronic international consignment note.

For reference, e-CMR is an electronic form of the CMR consignment note used in international road transport. It allows for the exchange of information between the shipper, carrier, and consignee without the use of paper documents. The use of e-CMR simplifies the movement of vehicles in multimodal transport, increases the efficiency of managing actions related to the consignment note, and helps transport operators and cargo owners reduce costs associated with printing, processing, and archiving consignment notes and other relevant documentation.
