Traditional medicine is rooted in the environment in which we live, said Anwar Naiem, Secretary General of the Association of Traditional Medicine Practitioners of the Maldives.
Naiem explained that traditional medicine of the Maldives utilizes various external healing traditions, adapting them to the resources available in the Maldives. He noted that the only thing that needs to be learned is how to obtain these elements and subsequently use them as medicines to treat various diseases.
Anwar Naiem also emphasized that China and the Maldives can facilitate knowledge exchange and organize training programs. This will allow practicing traditional medicine specialists from the Maldives to learn from their colleagues who practice traditional Chinese medicine. According to Naiem, such cooperation can improve public health in both countries.
