Residents of Uttar Pradesh are benefiting from the Yogi government's decision. The state's electricity department has decided to reinstate over 25 thousand outsourced employees who were previously laid off. Furthermore, an agreement has been reached to raise the service completion age for outsourced workers from 55 to 60 years. This decision offers hope to employees who were excluded from the staff due to age restrictions.
The issue of reinstating more than 25 thousand workers was resolved during a meeting with union representatives, which took place in the presence of the Chairman of the Energy Department and the Power Corporation, Ranvir Prasad. It was established that healthy and capable outsourced employees will be rehired.
However, the return of employees will be subject to certain conditions. Employees who have reached the age of 55 must provide a fitness certificate from a registered medical specialist. They will also need to submit a written application confirming their willingness and ability to perform their duties.
Necessary changes will be made to contracts with outsourcing agencies to implement the new system. This will allow for the process of extending the service period and reemploying the relevant employees.
Previously, about 85 thousand outsourced workers were employed in the Uttar Pradesh electricity department, of whom more than 25 thousand were gradually laid off. The employees had long demanded reinstatement and an extension of the service period.
The union of tender/contract workers of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation had long raised this issue. After the publication of the meeting protocol at Shakti Bhawan, the union expressed satisfaction with this decision. Union representatives were greeted with flowers at the electrical substations.
