Panic erupted at the Shramoday Vidyalaya hostel in Ratibad, Bhopal, after a gecko was discovered in the potato ragout served to the children. It is alleged that this gecko dish was served to the children, leading to 13 students falling ill. Due to complaints of vomiting and diarrhea, all the children were taken to Jayprakash (JP) hospital.
According to doctors, the condition of all the children has now normalized. The affected students are in classes from sixth to ninth grade. After eating, the children began complaining of vomiting and diarrhea, prompting their immediate transport to the hospital where the medical team began treatment.
The incident raised questions regarding the quality of nutrition and the working conditions of the hostel canteen. Parents of the sick students also questioned the school administration's notification system, claiming they were not informed promptly about the children's malaise. Families learned about the incident through the school's group chat and immediately went to the hospital, where they were told that the children had been served a gecko dish.
The director of Shramoday Vidyalaya, Ratna Dubey, stated that the children received the gecko dish due to the fault of the canteen operator. As a result of this incident, 13 students fell ill and were hospitalized at Jayprakash for treatment. The director visited the hospital to check on the children's health. She emphasized that all children are now healthy, and the canteen operator has been issued an official warning.
The director announced her intention to take strict measures regarding this case. Meanwhile, according to the duty doctor at Jayprakash, Ratnesh Jain, the children were brought to the hospital following reports of vomiting and diarrhea. The medical team immediately started treatment, and currently, everyone is under medical observation and in normal condition.
The Ratibad police are also investigating the matter. Station head Rambabu Singh reported that parents filed a complaint regarding the serving of the gecko dish to the children. The police are currently examining all circumstances of the case, and legal action will be taken against the canteen operator based on the facts revealed.
