Authorities of the Fergana Region of Uzbekistan are considering the possibilities of implementing infrastructure projects in the fields of water supply, wastewater management, and irrigation, attracting international experience and public-private partnership mechanisms.
The discussion on these issues took place during the working trip of a delegation from Uzbekistan to Saudi Arabia. The Governor of the Fergana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, held a meeting in Riyadh with Ahmed Al-Mansour, Chief Investment Director of Al-Khuraif Water & Power Technologies. The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Kingdom, Nodirjon Turgunov, was also present at this meeting.
The parties reviewed prospects for cooperation in providing residents with quality drinking water, modernizing sewage and drainage systems, and increasing the efficiency of existing infrastructure facilities. Special attention was paid to the introduction of modern technologies and the use of international experience in developing utility networks.
Khayrullo Bozorov emphasized that the priorities of regional authorities are creating comfortable living conditions for the population and developing modern infrastructure to support business activity. He stressed the need to attract foreign companies and effectively utilize PPP mechanisms, including the construction and modernization of water supply, wastewater treatment, and irrigation systems.
Representatives of Al-Khuraif Water & Power Technologies presented their experience in water resource management, wastewater treatment, and water supply. Participants also discussed potential areas for mutually beneficial cooperation in the Fergana Region.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to jointly study promising infrastructure projects, determine priority areas, and consider opportunities for further practical interaction based on public-private partnerships.
