Arsenal defeated Leeds 2-1, leveling with Manchester City in the Premier League table

Arsenal managed to defeat Leeds 2-1, thereby equaling Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. The match took place on Saturday, and the team started the season actively after a three-week international break.

Mikel Arteta's team struggled to dominate against well-organized opponents in the first half of the match. However, after the break, the players found their rhythm, allowing them to secure their fifth win out of six this season.

The early goal was scored by James Justin, the defender, who gave Leeds a deserved advantage at the Emirates, silencing the home crowd under the autumn sun. But Arsenal quickly equalized a few minutes later thanks to Riccardo Calafiori.

Subsequently, the winning goal was scored by beneficiary player Bruno Guimarães, who sealed the triumph after a well-executed team attack.

The situation surrounding City also came into focus, as it was announced that the club was found guilty of over one hundred financial rule violations in the Premier League. Arsenal, which previously had a perfect record except for a 0-3 loss to Brighton last month, battled a physically strong team managed by Daniel Fark in the first half.

Noni Maduke, who Thomas Tuchel did not include in the last England squad, received a rare start on the left wing for Arsenal instead of injured Christos Tsolis. Nevertheless, neither he nor Bukayo Saka on the opposite flank were able to cause serious problems for Leeds' defense, which conceded only three goals in the league all season.

Towards the end of the first half, Leeds had a couple of chances. First, Jayden Bogle and Anton Stach hindered each other when Stach shot past his teammate, and Bogle was stopped by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya near the goal. Then Raya confidently saved a shot from Leeds defender Gabriel Gudmundsson from a tight angle.

The first half was quite cautious, and Arsenal managed only one shot on target. However, after the break, the game became more open, and both teams began creating chances.

Leeds' impressive midfielder Ao Tanaka forced Raya to make a save before Justin scored for his team in the 55th minute. He finished beautifully from outside the box following a cross from Gudmundsson, which was the result of a well-coordinated attack down the left flank. Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães also tried to head it but could not prevent the ball from entering the net.

However, Arsenal leveled the score just seven minutes later when the inconspicuous Calafiori shot past English goalkeeper James Trafford after a pass from Ben White. The situation worsened for Leeds when Guimarães powerfully finished an attack after precise play down the left flank, involving Saka, Martin Ødegaard, and Declan Rice.

Thanks to this victory, Arsenal gained 15 points, remaining behind City leaders in goal difference. Enzo Maresca's team, having a bye, prepares for a difficult away match against Liverpool on Sunday after the club's guilt was announced last week.
