Former Australian Captain Aaron Finch Names Four Potential Finalists for the 2027 World Cup

There is still plenty of time before the next one-year World Cup, but predictions about the tournament have already begun. Aaron Finch, former captain of Australia who won the World Cup title, has revealed a list of four teams that, in his opinion, could reach the semi-finals of the 2027 competition.

This prediction generated significant interest among fans on social media, as Finch excluded two major teams from his list: Pakistan and New Zealand. Notably, the top-4 list compiled by Finch does not include New Zealand, which is traditionally considered one of the most dangerous teams in ICC tournaments.

Despite the fact that the New Zealand team reached the semi-finals in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, as well as the 2023 semi-final, Finch completely excluded both teams from his calculations.

According to Finch's prediction, four teams hold leading positions in the race for the semi-finals. Among them are India, as well as England, South Africa, and six-time champion Australia.

Regarding the tournament dates, the 2027 one-day World Cup is scheduled to begin on October 2, 2027. In the first round, India will play against Australia on October 7. A highly competitive match between India and Pakistan will take place on October 11 at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. This same stadium will also host the final match, which will be held on November 21.
