Government to provide insurance, a package of 10 lakhs, and 50% quotas for former Agniveers

Young people who dream of serving in the army often ask questions about the Agniveer program: what happens after completing the four-year term of service, will there be an opportunity to join regular service, and what employment options are available if they do not enter regular service. These concerns worry both the candidates themselves and their families.

The government has developed provisions regarding pension funds, reserving positions in other government services, and employment opportunities for Agniveers who have completed their service. However, the question remains as to who will receive these benefits, what volume of financial assistance is provided, and what the corresponding rules are.

After completing the four-year term of service, the government will provide Agniveers with a number of benefits, including a pension fund package, medical insurance coverage, and a skills certificate. Before going into detail, let's look at exactly what benefits will be provided.

Pension Fund Package

An Agniveer retiring will receive a one-time pension fund package worth approximately 10.04 lakh rupees. It is important to note that this amount will be tax-exempt. This package includes contributions from the youth, an equal share from the government, and interest accrued on this amount.

Medical Insurance Coverage

During service, Agniveers are provided with insurance coverage worth 48 lakh rupees, which ensures a safe sum for both them and their families.

Skills Certificate

Retiring Agniveers are also issued a skills certificate. This document will give them an advantage in interviews in both the private and public sectors.

The government has also provided employment opportunities for candidates who have completed the four-year term of service. To facilitate adaptation in the corporate and government sectors, the government is preparing a special portal of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Through this portal, they will not have to worry too much about finding a job, and many employment options will be offered to them.

50 Percent Quotas

In security forces such as BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and Assam Rifles, 50 percent of positions for former Agniveers are reserved for constable (general duty) and private roles.

Exemption from Physical and Written Exams

When applying for jobs in these security forces, former Agniveers will be exempted from the Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and written examination.

Quota and Age Exemption

Governments of many states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, have allocated 10 to 20 percent of positions in the police and other departments for former Agniveers. Furthermore, an increase in the upper age limit by 3-5 years has been announced, which will help them find government jobs more easily.
