Team Liquid and Visa focus on inclusion and community to boost esports in Brazil

Team Liquid and Visa have established Brazil as a strategic market, valuing both talent development and connection with the gaming community. During the Brasil Game Show (BGS) 2026, both entities informed Olhar Digital that their plans for the country include the union of competitiveness, inclusion, and in-person experiences.

This collaboration between the companies began in 2024 and includes Visa's support for Team Liquid's inclusive VALORANT team. This team achieved victories in the Kickoff, Stage 1, and Final Stage of Game Changers Brazil in 2026, thus securing a new spot in the World Championship.

For Team Liquid, the progression of the inclusive VALORANT environment signals a transformation in how athletes are recognized in competitions. The organization emphasizes that the scene has evolved significantly, as the focus has shifted from solely inclusion to increasingly emphasizing competitiveness, which is considered crucial.

The organization stresses that the achievements reached prove the high competitive level of the athletes and help broaden representation within esports. It is highlighted that the most important thing happens when an athlete is recognized first as a standout player, and not merely as 'a woman competing.'

In addition to tournaments, Team Liquid plans to contribute to creating solid careers in the sector by offering opportunities in areas such as production, marketing, content creation, and management. Participation in events like BGS integrates Team Liquid's strategy to reinforce its presence in Brazil.

The organization maintains a training center located in São Paulo and organizes activities such as community tournaments and watch parties, promoting closeness between fans, athletes, and content creators. According to Team Liquid, these in-person meetings allow them to reach audiences who do not necessarily frequent virtual communities, in addition to fostering more consistent ties with fans.

The company also sees Brazil as a potential starting point to expand its operations in Latin America, integrating competitions, entertainment, content, and community experiences. Mariana Dinis, Executive Marketing Director for Visa in Brazil, explains that the investment in the gaming universe is linked to a tactic of approaching new audience segments.

The executive details that the company intensified its activity in the sector in Latin America in 2022 through initiatives, events, and partnerships aimed at the community. She states that in Gaming, the goal is to help build an ecosystem where individuals of diverse genders, origins, and regions can have space to compete, participate, and gain visibility.

The partnership with Team Liquid, started in 2024, will mark its third joint participation at BGS in 2026. Mariana points out that the purpose is to develop continuous actions that go beyond the simple exposure of brands during events. Visa also considers community engagement and the visibility of different talents as success metrics for the partnership, alongside commercial results and brand strengthening. For the coming years, both companies intend to deepen their connection with the Brazilian public through new digital and in-person experiences, content, and competitions.
