Chery transforms Jetour into a luxury off-road brand and announces the arrival of the 905 hp G700 in Brazil

Chery has significantly altered the positioning of Jetour within its portfolio, which comprises over ten brands. Previously conceived to market more affordable SUVs, the brand will be redefined as the high-end sports utility vehicle line focused on off-road activities by the Chinese conglomerate.

This change aligns with the strategy called "Globalization 3.0," recently presented by the automaker. With this new directive, Chery now possesses two distinct luxury brands: Exeed, which will maintain focus on the conventional segment, and Jetour, dedicated to SUVs designed for trails.

As of August, Jetour had registered the delivery of over 1.7 million vehicles in China, expanding its presence also in regions such as the Middle East, Africa, and Brazil.

The first product to signal this transition is the Jetour G700, a plug-in hybrid SUV that is 5.2 meters long and built on a ladder frame chassis, similar to those used in pickup trucks. Its propulsion system integrates a 2.0 turbo engine with two electric motors, offering all-wheel drive, 905 hp, and 115.7 kgfm of torque. In addition to these features, the model has the remarkable capability of navigating bodies of water.

The G700 was unveiled during the Interlagos Festival in August and is scheduled for launch in the Brazilian market by the end of this year. Although prices and versions have not yet been disclosed, it is estimated that the prices will exceed R$ 500,000.

The brand entered the country in early 2026, initially only with plug-in hybrid models. The entry-level car is the S06, available between R$ 199,900 and R$ 229,900, aiming to compete with models like BYD Song Plus and GWM Haval H6. Above it is the T1, characterized by its square design and adventurous appeal, with prices ranging from R$ 249,900 to R$ 264,900.

The T2, which represents the top line before the arrival of the G700, is a variation of the T1 and can be purchased for R$ 289,900 or R$ 299,900 in front-wheel drive configurations. The XWD 4x4 version, launched in July, offers 597 hp and costs R$ 349,900, after a promotional batch was sold for R$ 339,900.

In terms of sales in Brazil, Jetour registered the registration of 1,130 vehicles in September, a lower number than the 1,453 registered in August, according to Fenabrave data. However, the brand itself reported surpassing the mark of 5 thousand cars registered in the first six months of its national operation.
