The Uzbekistan Competition Committee has started examining the justification for planned price increases by some mobile operators. This review was initiated following upcoming tariff changes and consumer complaints regarding the quality of services provided, according to the committee's press service.
According to the committee's data, although operators have increased the volume of internet traffic included in their tariff plans, they do not always ensure the necessary level of connection quality. Consequently, subscribers cannot fully utilize the paid data volume, and unused limits are not carried over to the next month.
Consumers have also expressed doubt about how justified higher tariffs are given the increase in included internet traffic volume. The committee intends to assess the logic behind these price adjustments.
If it is established that operators have violated competition principles or infringed upon consumer rights, inspections will be conducted in accordance with established procedures. Companies found in violation face measures stipulated by law.
The committee also recalled measures adopted in 2025 and during the first nine months of 2026 aimed at stimulating competition and protecting subscriber interests.
Specifically, Beeline stopped automatically switching subscribers to the day tariff without prior notice if their account balance was insufficient to cover the monthly fee. Users were also given the option to manage these services independently. Furthermore, calls to more than 100 short numbers of state institution hotlines, which Beeline previously charged for, became free.
Mobiuz removed technical restrictions when switching to certain tariff plans and guaranteed customers full information about tariff conditions. Ucell updated its public offering of mobile services to include provisions on liability for material and moral damages.
