Devi Sankaree Govender has announced the conclusion of the television broadcast of 'The Devi Show,' which will cease operations on Sunday, October 11. After six years of work, during which she exposed fraudsters and corrupt individuals, Govender announced the end of the show but emphasized that she does not plan to disappear entirely from the screens.
Govender, known as an investigative journalist who has received awards and previously hosted the program Carte Blanche on M-Net, shared this news via social media. She told viewers: 'Join me for the final episode #Devi #Sunday as I transition from linear television to the digital space.'
She hinted that the final episode would be held in a grand manner. Govender specified: 'And we are ending in a grand style with one of our most productive 'characters.' Leopards rarely change their spots—and that was true for #GeorgeWebb, who first appeared in 2020 as the 'tenant from hell.' We will face him for the fifth time.'
In her social media post, she explained the reason for this transition. Speaking about her experience, she noted: 'After 30 years on television (imagine!), I am preparing for a completely new adventure. I have been fortunate to tell incredible stories, interact with wonderful South Africans, and confront several very interesting characters (you know, 'The Ones').'
She added that over the past six years, 'The Devi Show' on eTV has become an important part of her journey. 'On Sunday, October 11, we will conclude our television chapter. But... relax—I am not disappearing from your screens. The world is changing, and the way we communicate is changing. I want to meet you where you are and explore new opportunities,' shared Sankaree Govender.
Guests also thanked fans for watching and trusting her stories. Meanwhile, she issued a sharp warning to the criminal underworld: 'To my dear swindlers—don't celebrate too early—I am moving into a broader space, and I have very interesting plans regarding 'you.' '
Govender announced that episodes of 'The Devi Show' will remain available on YouTube for the audience to watch.
