Following successful sales of electric vehicles, VinFast is preparing to enter the electric two-wheeler transport market in India. Currently, VinFast ranks fourth among companies selling electric vehicles in the Indian market, having sold 2,964 electric cars in September.
In light of this, the company has decided to enter the two-wheeler segment and signed a corresponding letter of intent. As part of this agreement, VinFast has reached arrangements with more than 50 electric motorcycle dealer partners. The company plans to establish its distribution network across 15 states.
The signing of this agreement took place at the High Phong production complex located in Vietnam. Representatives of Indian dealers visited this complex. According to the terms of the deal, VinFast will jointly open over 50 electric two-wheeler showrooms in 34 Indian cities with its retail partners.
The primary target markets for these new showrooms include regions such as Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, as these areas show the highest demand. This agreement demonstrates VinFast's plans to penetrate the electric scooter market.
The company has decided to form a separate distribution network for two-wheelers, while it is already actively operating in the passenger electric vehicle sector. Cam Tu (Jasmine), VinFast's manager for international market operations, noted that India is one of the most significant markets in the company's global growth strategy. She emphasized that this agreement with Indian partners reflects the company's expectations and long-term commitment, expressing confidence in the scale and potential of the Indian market.
However, information regarding the specific electric scooter model to be introduced in the Indian market has not yet been disclosed. Regarding electric vehicles, the company currently sells three models in India: VF 6, VF 7, and MPV 7. Two of these models are electric SUVs, and one is an electric minivan, with each model targeting different consumer groups.
