The power line connecting China and Laos has reached a new record, transmitting over one billion kilowatt-hours of electricity since it began operation.
This 500-kilovolt channel is the first cross-border alternating current interconnection of this type in China. It was launched on April 20 and represents a key energy initiative within the concept of the 'China-Laos community with a shared future.'
On the same day, solar energy from northern Laos entered Yunnan province in southwestern China, marking the first instance where a foreign renewable energy project connected to China's power system.
By August 6, hydropower from Laos was already supplying the vast Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In the future, China and Laos plan to deepen cooperation in areas such as joint grid dispatching, cross-border operation and maintenance, as well as trade based on market mechanisms and emergency response.
Furthermore, both countries intend to promote the use of cleaner energy and expand markets for environmentally friendly power sources.
