The Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a compact yet powerful computer, was officially unveiled by Microsoft during the Build 2026 event, held in early June. After four months of anticipation, the machine was announced to the public.
The device's cost was set at US$ 5,999, which is equivalent to R$ 30,000.
The equipment attracts attention both for its external and internal appearance. Externally, it features a design resembling a 'tray' or 'desk'. Although the look is unique, the combination of black color and straight lines gives it an elegant appearance. This design also seems practical, as the computer does not take up much space on the workspace and facilitates access to its various ports, such as USB-C and HDMI.
Internally, the highlight of the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box is the Nvidia RTX Spark N1X, a 'superchip' that integrates 20 CPU cores based on the Arm architecture with an Nvidia Blackwell GPU containing 6,144 CUDA cores. The basic hardware is complemented by 128 GB of unified RAM and a 2 TB SSD.
This robust processing capability was developed to support the creation and execution of sophisticated artificial intelligence applications. Microsoft itself emphasizes that the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box is aimed at developers, capable of running AI models with over 120 billion parameters.
Additionally, the machine is part of Project Zenith and, as such, comes equipped with Windows 11 Pro and a pre-installed package of development tools and environments. This suite includes Visual Studio Code, Git, GitHub CLI, GitHub Copilot, WSL, Python, Node, and other essential software.
The Surface RTX Spark Dev Box is already available for pre-order in the United States, where the price is US$ 5,999, with sales scheduled to begin next month. However, there is no forecast for an official launch in Brazil, given that Surface line computers are not sold in the country.
