Concern among residents of the village in the Et area, Uttar Pradesh state, has intensified due to ongoing deaths from Dengue and fever. Residents claim that more than 18 people have died in the last month, with two more deaths recorded on Wednesday. An atmosphere of panic and outrage prevails in the village following a series of fatalities.
According to local residents, a significant number of young people among the deceased. The situation is so severe that some families have been forced to leave the village and seek refuge with relatives due to fear of Dengue. Residents accuse government bodies of lacking effective measures despite the high number of deaths.
Due to the seriousness of the situation, the district administration sent a medical team to the village and organized a medical camp. People suffering from fever and other illnesses are being checked and treated there. However, residents are dissatisfied with this measure, claiming that only a formal check and the issuance of one or two medicines are conducted at the camp.
The most serious accusation made by residents concerns Dengue testing. They state that the results of tests conducted in government camps are negative, while private hospitals confirm the presence of Dengue. This issue causes strong indignation among the population towards the health department.
The Aajtak team, having visited the zero point of the village and spoken with residents, documented both their pain and anger. People accused the district administration of negligence. Residents emphasize that despite the continuing wave of deaths, sufficient measures have not been taken for effective control over the disease.
Meanwhile, the district administration reports 12 deaths, which differs from residents' statements. According to CDO Rajendra Mishra, 4-5 elderly people are among the deceased. He notes that not all deaths can be attributed to Dengue, as some people passed away due to other illnesses.
The district administration is working to inform residents about the need to stay away from contaminated water and drink only boiled water. Officials have identified tap water sources with contaminated water and urged residents not to use water from them. The administration is trying to clarify the situation regarding the causes of the illness and mortality.
Although treatment and examination of patients continue at the Department of Health medical camp, residents' trust has not been fully restored. When officials arrived in the village, people's patience snapped, and they openly expressed their dissatisfaction. Residents demand a speedy relief from the illness and improvement in medical care.
The main question now is the true cause of the continuous deaths in the village: are all these deaths related to Dengue, or are other diseases and contaminated water also to blame? Residents await a clear answer to this question and hope for reliable control over the disease.
