The release of Forza Horizon 6 for the PlayStation 5 has been postponed, with an expected arrival only in January 2027. This information was disclosed by the French portal Dealabs and corroborated by journalist Tom Warren, who works for The Verge. Initially, it was expected that the title would be available on the Sony console this year.
Microsoft had confirmed the release of the exclusive game for the competing console shortly after its debut on the Xbox Series X/S and PC, which occurred in May of this year. However, neither the company nor Playground Games, the studio responsible for creating the game, has issued an official confirmation regarding this delay to date.
According to Dealabs, the exact date for the release of Forza Horizon 6 on the PlayStation 5 is set for January 26, 2027. Furthermore, the publication mentions that the game will receive a physical media version, despite Sony's plans to discontinue disc manufacturing.
In the Brazilian market, current costs for the Xbox and PC versions are R$ 299 for the Standard edition, R$ 449 for the Deluxe, and R$ 549 for the Premium. Although prices for the PS5 have not yet been announced, the site indicates that the physical edition will have the same price as practiced on Xbox in Europe, suggesting a similar pricing structure in Brazil. It has not been defined whether the PS5 will have a Premium edition.
The news gained more credibility after Tom Warren, a journalist from The Verge, cited internal details indicating that this is the new planned date. According to him, the change is linked to the release of the game's first major expansion, which is also scheduled for early next year. The intention would be to make the port available for PS5 simultaneously with this new content.
Officially, Microsoft maintains the release forecast for 2026, although without specifying a concrete date. The game was already released for Xbox Series X/S and PC on May 19 and has been included in Xbox Game Pass since its launch.
The arrival of Forza Horizon on PS5 is part of a modification in the strategy adopted by Microsoft. In recent years, the company has directed Xbox franchises to the Sony console, as happened with its predecessor, Forza Horizon 5, which was released for PS5 in 2025 and achieved good commercial performance.
Currently, this policy is undergoing a reassessment under the current management of Xbox. Asha Sharma, CEO of the division, stated that the company will review its methodology regarding exclusive titles. The Gears of War franchise remains restricted to the Microsoft ecosystem, meaning Xbox and PC.
