Volkswagen launches GTI-style sporty visual package for electric cargo Kombi in the Netherlands

Volkswagen has introduced a sporty visual inspired by the GTI style for its electric work Kombi. In the Netherlands, the manufacturer has started offering the package called Signature Edition for both the ID. Buzz Cargo, which is the cargo version of the electric reinterpretation of the Kombi, and the Transporter Bulli van.

This set of aesthetic modifications costs 6,495 euros, which is equivalent to approximately R$ 38.7 thousand, excluding taxes. It is important to note that the changes are exclusively visual and finishing; the mechanical part remains unchanged.

The accessories are applied in the country after vehicle registration. This methodology allows them not to be included in the catalog value used for calculating taxes on the van, resulting in reduced costs for companies owning these vehicles.

External modifications include the addition of a front spoiler and a rear spoiler, both with a carbon fiber simulation finish, as well as black side skirts, darkened grilles and logos, along with specific edition decals.

Regarding wheels, the Transporter receives 19-inch black wheels, while the ID. Buzz Cargo uses 20-inch black wheels. Internally, the seats are equipped with synthetic leather upholstery, featuring Dinamica details (a suede-like fabric), a hexagonal pattern, and contrasting stitching. The steering wheel and door trims also receive exclusive finishes.

The propulsion systems remain the same: the ID. Buzz Cargo maintains its electric motor, while the Transporter can be equipped with a diesel or electric engine. The most powerful configuration of the line, the passenger ID. Buzz GTX, has two motors and delivers 340 horsepower.

This is not the first time the brand has applied a sporty design to its commercial vans. In the United Kingdom, for example, the company already sells the Transporter Sportline with a similar aesthetic.

In the local market, the ID. Buzz is still an uncommon model. Volkswagen imported 70 units of the passenger version at the end of 2023, which are only available through subscription under the Sign&Drive program, with monthly payments currently starting at R$ 8,990. This model is not sold in dealerships, and the cargo version has never been introduced to the country. This contrasts with the trajectory of the original Kombi, which was manufactured in Brazil for 56 years until 2013, traditionally associated with work vehicles in the national territory.
