Uzbekistan Presents Priorities for Space Industry Development at IAC-2026

The Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, presented the main directions for the development of his country's space industry at the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2026). The event took place in Antalya from October 5 to 9, according to the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan.

During the congress, a ministerial round table was held dedicated to the development of the space industry. Sherzod Shermatov outlined Uzbekistan's priorities in this sector, as well as existing opportunities and approaches to expanding international cooperation.

Participants discussed the implementation of innovations and the development of space technologies, the need to integrate modern solutions into the industry, strengthening interaction between the public and private sectors, and expanding the exchange of experience and knowledge between states.

Special attention was paid to strengthening national space potential through mastering new areas of international partnership, attracting investments, and implementing promising projects.

Furthermore, the event served as a platform for demonstrating Uzbekistan's organizational and technological capabilities to the international community as part of the preparations for the International Astronautical Congress 2028, which will be held in Samarkand.

The 77th International Astronautical Congress gathered over 10,000 participants from various countries, including astronauts and representatives of international companies. The congress program includes official meetings, company presentations, academic and technical sessions, as well as exhibitions focused on sharing experience and prospects for space development.

Before the start of the congress, the 16th meeting of ministers and members of parliaments of the International Astronautical Federation was held, in which Sherzod Shermatov also participated. This meeting was dedicated to issues of state space policy, international cooperation, and the development of the space industry.

Uzbekistan and Turkic States Signed First Space Cooperation Agreement

Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkey reached an agreement to further strengthen cooperation in the space sector. This document was signed by representatives of the four countries in Antalya during the 77th International Astronautical Congress.

The agreement, formalized on October 6, marks the first act of cooperation in the space industry concluded between these countries within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States. The parties plan to jointly promote projects in the fields of space technologies, satellite provision, scientific research, and industrial partnership. Special emphasis will be placed on training qualified personnel for this industry.

The Organization of Turkic States emphasized that this new document will serve as a foundation for deepening ties between the states and expanding common space initiatives, including the development of the OTS-SAT project experience.

The delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, is participating in the congress in Antalya. Representatives of the country are holding talks with participants of the global space community, discussing new vectors and directions for international cooperation.

The International Astronautical Congress is taking place in Antalya from October 5 to 9 and has gathered participants from over one hundred countries, including representatives of space agencies, scientific institutions, state structures, and private enterprises. Furthermore, it was announced that the 79th International Astronautical Congress will be held in Uzbekistan: Samarkand will host it from October 9 to 13, 2028.
