Play 'Passing in Esfand' tells the story of the victims of the Minab school tragedy

The theatrical production 'Passing in Esfand,' written and directed by Hassan Sobhani Minabi, is currently running at the Ebrahim Zarei Theater in the city of Minab, Hormozgan province. The play is dedicated to the stories of martyrs Makkan Nasiri and Mahmoud Golamani, who were victims of the Shajare Tayebe School tragedy in Minab.

The premiere of the performance took place on October 1st and gathered representatives from the Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance administration of Minab, the director of the city's representation office in parliament, teachers, artists, and theater enthusiasts, as well as family members of martyr Mahmoud Golamani. The opening was dedicated to Golamani's mother.

'Passing in Esfand' is a poetic narrative about the lives of martyrs Makkan Nasiri and Mahmoud Golamani, while simultaneously revealing part of the history of those affected by the incident at Shajare Tayebe School in Minab. The creators utilized local cultural elements, rituals, and traditions to convey the stories of the victims and their families.

The idea for creating the play arose from Sobhani Minabi's concern over the victims of the school tragedy and his sense of responsibility to preserve their stories through theater. Subsequently, the production was developed as an artistic work for the residents of Minab, where Golamani and Nasiri are central figures.

'Passing in Esfand' has been selected to participate in the XX International Festival of Theatre Resistance and will take part in the festival's main competition. Furthermore, the production represents Hormozgan province at this event. The show will run until October 10th, with the hall accommodating 74 spectators each night.

The play pays special attention to the story of Makkan Nasiri, one of the students killed during the attack on Shajare Tayebe School in Minab, as well as Mahmoud Golamani, a 35-year-old resident of Minab.

The tragedy at the Minab school occurred on February 28th when the school building was struck by a US military-Israeli strike. This incident resulted in the death of 168 students and other civilians, causing widespread grief in the local community. The tragedy also left behind families who lost children, and in Nasiri's case, uncertainty regarding the return of his remains.

On the day of the attack, Golamani entered the school ruins to search for children and help rescue those trapped. He managed to save one child but returned to assist others. He died in a second strike along with some other people.

Through the stories of Nasiri, Golamani, and other victims, 'Passing in Esfand' seeks to preserve the memory of those affected by placing their experience within the cultural and social context of Minab. By incorporating local traditions and elements of the region's cultural life, the production presents the tragedy not merely as an event of loss, but as a story that the community remembers through art and theater.
