Uzbekistan and the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) have concluded a preliminary agreement to host the International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2028) in the city of Samarkand.
The document was signed in Antalya during the 77th International Astronautical Congress in Turkey, according to Uzcosmos Agency.
The signing ceremony was attended by the President of the International Astronautical Federation, Gabriella Arrigo; Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov; Director of the Uzcosmos Agency, Shukhrat Kadyrov; and Aziz Mukhidinov, director of the non-governmental organization Alliance of Artificial Intelligence.
This agreement confirms the arrangements for holding IAC-2028 in Samarkand and marks a practical stage in the preparation for organizing the congress.
As part of further work, the parties will continue preparing for the event. This includes ensuring the necessary conditions for international participants, developing the required infrastructure, and drafting the congress program. Thus, the document signed in Antalya defines the next steps in preparing Samarkand to host the International Astronautical Congress in 2028.
