Mikel Arteta signs new contract with Arsenal until 2030

Arsenal announced on Wednesday that Mikel Arteta has signed a long-term contract with the Premier League champion team. This agreement secures his position as manager at the Emirates until 2030. Previously, the Spaniard's contract was set to expire at the end of the current season.

Arteta, who is currently 44 years old, shared his thoughts on the contract. He stated: 'It is a great honor for me to dedicate my future to the club and continue working with exceptional people who wish the best for Arsenal.' He also noted the uniqueness of the club and the feeling of privilege from continuing the journey together, emphasizing that the memories created will last forever, and this is only the beginning of their achievements.

English Premier League

Arteta began his work at Arsenal in December 2019 and led the team's return to the top of English football. Last season, Arsenal won its first league title in 22 years. Furthermore, he guided the team to its first UEFA Champions League final in two decades, although they lost to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.

Currently, Arsenal is in second place in the Premier League, three points behind the leaders, Manchester City, following an unexpected 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the international break.

Statement from Club Co-owners

Arsenal co-owners Stan and Josh Kroenke commented on the situation, stating: 'It has been an incredible journey so far, and we look forward to what awaits us in this special relationship.' They added that the past season was a landmark moment in Arsenal's history, a time of creating unforgettable memories, and they intend to create even more such moments in the future. Kroenke also expressed pride in all the achievements since Mikel's return to the club in 2019.

The Arsenal team will return to Premier League matches on Saturday, playing at home against Leeds.
