Amin Esmailnezhad, captain of the Iranian men's national volleyball team, expressed confidence that Iran can qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, despite widespread doubts among fans regarding the team's chances.
Esmailnezhad voiced this optimistic forecast during a television broadcast on Iran's state television company. He participated in the program 'Olympic Village' alongside Milad Taghavi, president of the Iranian Volleyball Federation.
During this show, viewers were asked to vote on whether the Iranian national volleyball team would qualify for the Los Angeles Olympics. The poll results showed significant pessimism: nearly 85 percent of participants voted against Iran's participation in the Games.
However, Esmailnezhad gave a completely different assessment when the host directly asked him about Iran's qualification for Los Angeles 2028. The spiker answered with one decisive word: 'Yes.' He then emphasized his statement, declaring: 'We will go to the Olympics.'
The captain's statement came amid Iran's ongoing preparations for the next cycle of Olympic qualifiers. His comments underscore the team's ambition to return to the Olympic level and compete with the world's best.
Despite the difficult path to Los Angeles, Esmailnezhad's words send a clear signal: the Iranian volleyball team is aiming for a return to the Olympics.
