A senior Starlink official stated on Wednesday that the company has designed its operations to comply with Indian security requirements and other regulatory norms.
During the India Mobile Congress 2026 event, Starlink Vice President of Business Operations, Lauren Dreyer, announced that the company has invested in creating the necessary infrastructure to serve the Indian market.
She emphasized: 'We have built our Starlink operations specifically for India, recognizing India's security requirements and other rules by establishing control at every level for India and keeping Indian user data within India.'
The government has granted licenses to three companies, including Starlink, to provide satellite communication services in India. However, these satellite companies still need spectrum allocation and security clearances before they can begin providing services.
Dreyer added that the company has already made investments and built existing ground infrastructure, which includes 20 gateway sites with hundreds of antennas, and has prepared operations to serve India.
