GIFT Nifty foreshadows negative Nifty50 opening ahead of Reserve Bank of India MPC meeting; Asian markets decline

GIFT Nifty signaled a possible negative opening for the Nifty50 index ahead of the announcement of the Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee decision. Futures for this index were trading at 22,733 points, which is 63 points lower.

Asian and Pacific markets showed declines as the price of Brent crude oil remained near the $100 per barrel mark. The Nikkei 225 and KOSPI indices fell by 0.36% and 0.76%, respectively.

While overnight, after reaching new highs, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 closed higher—up 0.58% and 0.48%, respectively, with AI-related stocks leading the gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also finished higher, up 0.49%.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year US Treasury bond was 5.3%. Brent oil prices rose due to supply concerns prompted by reports of an approaching storm in the US oil-producing region. December futures on the international exchange traded at $101.54, an increase of 0.95%.

Gold and silver futures declined by 0.35% and 0.6%, respectively.

Asian markets show decline

Asian and Pacific markets traded in a downward trend as the price of Brent oil continued to hold around the $100 per barrel mark. Specifically, the Nikkei 225 and KOSPI showed drops of 0.36% and 0.76%.

US stock market futures trading is mixed

During the Asian trading session, US stock market futures showed mixed dynamics amid rising oil prices driven by supply concerns. S&P 500 futures rose by 0.08%, while Dow Jones futures fell by 0.06%.

Overnight, after reaching new highs, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 demonstrated growth of 0.58% and 0.48%, with AI-oriented stocks driving this growth. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also closed higher at 0.49%.
