Rebar costs for housing construction have risen in regions from Mumbai to Goa

Building one's own home is currently one of the most expensive projects. In addition to initial expenses for purchasing land, significant funds are spent on building materials, including bricks, gravel, sand, and rebar. Many people prefer to wait for a decrease in prices for these components, but lately, waiting has not brought any benefit.

Specifically, the prices of rebar (Saria Price) have significantly increased in regions from Mumbai to Goa, which directly affects the overall cost of construction.

Since the beginning of the current month, there has been a continuous rise in rebar prices in all cities, leading to a substantial jump in cost. Although rebar prices reached a certain level in May-June 2026, the upward trend has continued since then. Rebar plays a key role in calculating construction costs, as its price directly influences the total project budget.

Changes in rebar prices directly correlate with construction costs: when the price of rebar decreases, the total construction cost decreases, and when prices rise, it increases.

An increase in rebar prices of approximately 7000 rupees per metric ton has been recorded. Comparing with August rates, the price of rebar in Mumbai was 5700 rupees, in Raigarh — 6900 rupees, in Raipur — 6200 rupees, and in Hyderabad — 6700 rupees.

Consumers can track current rebar rates daily. To do this, they need to visit the Ironmart website (ayronmart.com), where information on the latest TMT rebar prices is published. It should be noted that the prices listed on the website do not include 18% VAT, which increases the final cost.
