Archaeologists discover bronze ring depicting the Lighthouse of Alexandria in Alexandria

During a visit to Alexandria, representatives of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, including Minister Sherif Fathy, were informed by archaeologists about a recent find. Researchers from the Institute of European Underwater Archaeology (IEASM) were conducting work jointly with specialists from the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt.

During excavations carried out in the territory of the former Eastern Harbor, scientists managed to discover a bronze ring. A small plaque on this ring was engraved with an image of the Lighthouse of Alexandria, which is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Hisham El-Leity, noted that similar seals depicting this famous structure had not previously been encountered by researchers. Nevertheless, he reported that there are coins dating back to the 2nd century AD that also feature the lighthouse. This information was published on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
