Two-year craft school Naqsh launched in Tashkent to preserve traditional arts

The two-year diploma program of the Naqsh craft school's full-time department began in Tashkent on October 5th. This initiative was announced by the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts.

Joint Educational Project

This educational project was created by the Foundation in collaboration with the British Royal Foundation School of Traditional Arts (KFSTA). The goal of the project is to train qualified personnel who can support and promote Uzbekistan's traditional crafts by integrating historical methods with modern creative concepts.

During the opening ceremony, Gayane Umerova, representing the foundation, and Khaled Azzam, director of KFSTA, signed a document cementing a new stage of their cooperation.

Training Program and Disciplines

The training program is designed for three trimesters, each lasting eight weeks. Students will gain knowledge in areas such as geometry and ornament, ceramics and tile making, calligraphy, decorative painting, as well as wood carving and other specialties.

Specialists from Iran, Turkey, Russia, Great Britain, and Jordan are involved in teaching at the school, including KFSTA graduates. The learning process will combine theoretical lessons with direct practical work in workshops.

Participants in the program will create their own projects based on the cultural and architectural heritage of Uzbekistan and will conclude their studies by defending their final theses.
