There are rumors that Xiaomi may have decided to cancel the launch of the Xiaomi 18 Ultra model due to concerns related to its introductory price. This information was disclosed by the leaker Digital Chat Station, known for anticipating news in the smartphone market.
According to the informant, the top-of-the-line version, equipped with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, would have an estimated cost of around 10,000 yuan, which is approximately R$ 7,380 in direct conversion. This value would represent a significant increase compared to the Xiaomi 17 Ultra (12 GB/512 GB), which was launched for 7,000 yuan (R$ 5,166).
However, according to Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi concluded that the device would be 'too expensive' and that 'sales would not be sustainable.' The initial forecast was that this smartphone would be available by December of this year.
The Digital Chat Station post is no longer accessible on the Weibo platform, which raises uncertainties about the veracity of the claims originally made by the leaker. Nevertheless, this speculation reinforces the rumor about the cancellation of the Xiaomi 18 Ultra, which has been circulating behind the scenes since August.
As of now, Xiaomi has provided no official confirmation on whether the new flagship will be released or not.
In addition to the possible cancellation, the leak detailed some specifications of the Xiaomi 18 Ultra, including a cutting-edge chipset, a flat screen with only 1 mm thickness, and dual speakers.
The main attraction pointed out would be the camera system composed of three 200 MP lenses: a 1/12" LOFIC sensor, a 1/1.56" ultrawide lens, and a 1/1.28" LOFIC periscope telephoto lens with continuous optical zoom. Furthermore, the set would include a multispectral lens and an external magnetic lens.
Even if all this information is accurate, the leak should be considered merely a rumor until there is official confirmation or a statement from the Chinese manufacturer.
