NuCel customers, the mobile telephony service offered by Nubank, have started benefiting from Anti-Spam protection. This new feature functions to automatically block telemarketing calls and other forms of unwanted calls before they reach the user's device.
The functionality is being activated on all lines at no additional cost. NuCel users were informed about this activation through both notifications and email. In the communication, Nubank details that the service acts as a safeguard capable of identifying and blocking calls that exhibit abusive behavior.
These calls are generally characterized by originating from unknown numbers, frequently playing pre-existing recordings, or ending abruptly as soon as they are answered, and can occur at various times of the day.
For those concerned about missing important contacts, Nubank clarified in the same announcement that only numbers demonstrating a pattern of abusive use will be blocked, ensuring that calls from family, friends, or colleagues are not affected.
Despite this, any NuCel customer who wishes not to use Anti-Spam for any reason has the option to contact Nubank support to request the service cancellation. For those who choose to keep the protection, no action is necessary, as the activation occurs automatically for all customers.
The introduction of anti-spam protection in NuCel follows a trend observed among major mobile operators in the country. Vivo had already implemented a similar feature, which reached 105 million customers at the beginning of September. Subsequently, Claro launched the Safe Call service, which has the same objective. Meanwhile, TIM was preparing its defense against abusive telemarketing, after having faced disputes with Vivo's anti-spam system.
Additionally, Nubank also announced improvements to NuCel plans this week, including data allowance increases that can reach up to 40%.
