Astronomers have managed to find the most convincing candidate to date for a second-generation exoplanet orbiting a white dwarf.
The researchers recorded a regular decrease in the star's brightness, as well as the detection of metal contamination in its atmosphere, specifically elements formed through the s-process. These observations unequivocally point to the process of planetary material accretion.
The results of this study were officially published in the scientific journal Nature Astronomy.
