Anil Kakodkar, former head of India's Atomic Energy Commission who participated in nuclear tests in Pokhara, noted that the main goal of the US so-called non-proliferation experiment last week was to assert its global nuclear dominance and prevent other states from conducting atomic tests.
He explained that the collection of these measurements will help scientists better understand the signatures arising from underground explosions, as well as strengthen the US's ability to detect and characterize nuclear detonation events. According to Kakodkar, the purpose of this experiment is to maintain the advantage for the US.
Furthermore, the experiment takes on particular significance against the backdrop of speculation that China conducted a secret nuclear test in June 2020.
