In 2026, the success rate of women in the JEE-Advanced exam reached an all-time high, despite a decrease in registrations. Over 10,000 women qualified for the first time during this period.
Nevertheless, the proportion of women among the allocated seats in IITs remained virtually unchanged, increasing only from 20.15% to 20.22%. Among the top 100 participants, seats were distributed in only three institutes—Bombay, Delhi, and Madras—with Bombay receiving 68 seats alone.
According to JEE(A) data, women constituted 23% of the total registered participants, but their share among those who qualified was 17.8%.
