Caoa Chery launches Tiggo 9 with unprecedented powertrain starting from R$ 249,990 in Brazil

After updating its most successful models in the Brazilian market, Caoa Chery has introduced a completely new vehicle to the country: the Tiggo 9. This seven-seater SUV is positioned as the brand's top-of-the-line model and will be launched in two distinct configurations.

The new Caoa Chery Tiggo 9 is available in a non-electrified 2.0 turbo gasoline version and a plug-in hybrid version. Both options offer all-wheel drive.

Tiggo 9 News and Specifications

This SUV brings several innovations to Caoa Chery in Brazil, including all-wheel drive, the 2.0 TGDI engine, the plug-in hybrid AWD system, and the use of the T2X platform. The dimensions of the Tiggo 9 are considerable, presenting a length of 4.81 meters, a width of 1.92 meters, a height of 1.74 meters, and a wheelbase of 2.80 meters.

The 2.0 TGDI engine, which was already used in Chery vehicles in other nations, now arrives in Brazil. This engine runs exclusively on gasoline, but the manufacturer states that it has conducted validation tests and specific adjustments in the national territory. This configuration generates 224 hp and 36.7 kgfm, power transmitted to the four wheels via all-wheel drive, and uses an eight-speed epicyclic automatic transmission.

The purely combustion version weighs 1,908 kg and can reach 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds. Its fuel consumption is 8.5 km/l in the city and 10.9 km/l on the highway.

Plug-in Hybrid Version (PHEV)

In the PHEV variant, the vehicle combines a 1.5 TGDI engine with three electric motors: one to drive each axle and a third acting as a generator. The total power achieved is 428 hp, with 59.2 kgfm of torque, and it uses a three-speed DHT gearbox. The performance of this version is superior, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds. Although the range in the Inmetro cycle is 108 km, fuel consumption has not been disclosed. Both versions have a towing capacity of up to 1,500 kg.

The interior of the new Tiggo 9 features a luxurious design inspired by Chinese aesthetics, with soft-touch finishes on the panels and doors. The front seats are equipped with electric adjustment, and the panoramic sunroof extends to the end of the second row. Highlights include the electric folding of the middle row to facilitate access to the third row, the passenger seat serving as a footrest, as well as heating and ventilation systems in the first two rows.

Occupants in the middle row also have curtains integrated into the door panel. The third row, on the other hand, has fewer convenience features, making it more suitable for children.

Technology and Warranty

The Caoa Chery Tiggo 9 is equipped with a 540° camera, ADAS Max Drive package, seven driving modes, ten airbags, Sony sound system with 14 speakers, full-LED headlights, and electronic parking brake with auto-hold function. The equipment differences between the two versions are minimal, restricted to wheel designs and the inclusion of a spare tire in the 2.0 TDGI model; the plug-in hybrid model only receives the repair kit.

Caoa Chery offers a seven-year warranty without mileage limit for the Tiggo 9. Specifically for the PHEV version, the traction battery has an eight-year or 150,000 km coverage.
