Kongratbay Sharipov has been appointed rector of the Tashkent State University of Economics. Previously, he held the position of Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan.
Ezozhon Karimova has been appointed as the first deputy head of the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment. Before this, she headed the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.
These appointments are taking place against the backdrop of structural transformations in the education system of Uzbekistan. According to a decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation have been merged into a single Ministry of Education and Science.
This reform provides for the creation of a unified system for managing educational, upbringing, and scientific activities, covering the period from preschool to higher education. Among the stated goals of the reform are ensuring continuity between levels of education, improving the quality and efficiency of the educational system, developing human capital, and strengthening its responsibility to society.
