The Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov, held a meeting with the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Dongyu Ku, during his working visit to the country.

The dialogue took place on the eve of the international forum 'Food Security in Landlocked Developing Countries' and the international conference dedicated to World Cotton Day. Both events are scheduled for October 7–8 in Tashkent.

The parties exchanged views on reducing the negative impact of global climate change on agriculture and ensuring food security. Furthermore, they reviewed priority areas of the agricultural sector that require special attention.

During the meeting, the effectiveness of projects implemented under the partnership between Uzbekistan and FAO was noted. The parties reached an agreement on the further development of cooperation and the continuation of joint activities in new fields.

It is expected that the international forum will bring together high-ranking representatives from landlocked developing countries, international financial institutions, the scientific community, foreign experts, and private sector representatives. Current issues related to strengthening food security and adapting agriculture to climate change will be discussed at the event.
