Sources report that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council intends to rationalize the committees supporting its work by consolidating the existing structure into three main bodies.
This decision is driven by the stabilization of the indirect taxation regime, which has been in place for nine years. The proposed new structure will consist of the GST Secretariat, an implementation committee, and a unified standing committee, replacing several active panels and industry groups.
