The e-commerce platform Flipkart has acquired a minority stake in the global B2B travel technology startup TravClan. This move aims to enhance international travel packages and expand offerings on both the Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel platforms.
TravClan announced that it plans to use the acquired capital to scale its platform, deepen ties with global suppliers, and expand its teams in engineering, business development, and operations.
Through this deal, Flipkart gains access to TravClan's network of direct global suppliers and ground teams. Currently, TravClan services outbound trips for over 15,000 travel agents, helping them create customized itineraries, book hotels, and organize events with 24/7 destination support.
Integrating these operations will allow Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel to offer Indian travelers more curated international tours with reliable support throughout their journey.
Nishant Verma, Vice President of Corporate Development and Partnerships at Flipkart, noted: 'Investing in TravClan strengthens our ability to offer international holiday packages while deepening our travel capabilities. Today's travelers are looking for more than just booking flights or hotels. They want a trip tailored to their interests and supported throughout the journey. TravClan's supplier network and destination capabilities will help us create this experience on Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel.'
Arun Bagaria, Co-founder and CEO of TravClan, stated: 'India is becoming one of the largest outbound travel markets globally, with a significant portion of this growth coming from first-time international travelers. The opportunity lies in making these trips more accessible while maintaining a reliable level of service. By contracting directly with suppliers and managing our own ground teams, we can offer competitive pricing and ensure a consistent experience.'
He added that this partnership with Flipkart will enable affordable travel products to reach millions of Indians traveling internationally.
