Indian scientists have completed clinical trials and concluded that an eight-week protocol for treating chronic hepatitis C demonstrates the same effectiveness as the standard 12-week course.
The trials investigated a combination of antiviral drugs sofosbuvir and velpatasvir. It was established that this eight-week treatment regimen is no less effective than the 12-week one in treating chronic viral hepatitis C in patients without liver cirrhosis.
The results of the conducted studies were officially published in the scientific journal The Lancet.
