Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, head of the Russian Imperial House, made a visit to Tashkent to see the historical palace of Grand Duke Nikolai Konstantinovich, where restoration work is currently underway.
The visit took place on October 3. During the visit, Maria Vladimirovna met with the chairman of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art, Gayane Umerova, and personally inspected the palace restoration process. The tour of the site was organized by Saidaziz Ishankhodzhaev, deputy chairman of the foundation.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed prospects for international cooperation in the fields of science and culture. According to information provided by the press service of the Russian Imperial House, Maria Vladimirovna expressed gratitude to the Uzbek side for their care for the memory of Nikolai Konstantinovich and emphasized the significance of his legacy for Uzbekistan.
Earlier, in July, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev studied projects in the field of art and culture, including the idea of creating a branch of the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan specifically in the palace. It is planned that after the completion of the restoration work, the historical appearance of the building will be preserved, and a permanent exhibition of about 300 museum exhibits will be housed there.
The Romanov Palace has been under restoration since 2021. In May 2026, public resonance arose around this site after a closed fashion show was held on its territory. Representatives of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art then clarified that this event took place only on the adjacent territory and did not affect the interior premises of the palace.
