The opinion of one Indian citizen comparing daily life in Europe and India sparked active discussions on social media. He noted that while Europe looks magnificent on the surface, it faces issues such as security concerns, healthcare problems, and political instability. Despite these shortcomings, he sees greater enthusiasm for the future in India.
On the platform X, Mayukh Pandya shared his experience living in Europe, describing aspects like blue skies, green spaces, clean rivers, ancient castles, cafes, and picturesque towns. However, in his view, the country's beauty and daily life do not always match idealized perceptions.
Pandya cited London as an example, mentioning the danger of street knife attacks, and also spoke about homelessness and drug use problems in Berlin. He also noted that waiting times can be long to see a specialist or undergo diagnostic tests. Furthermore, he mentioned the energy crisis and political turmoil in Germany, as well as concerns about the safety of Christmas markets.
He added that some parts of Europe exhibit nostalgia for the past, as people feel that previous times were more hopeful.
Describing India, Pandya listed existing problems, including pollution, dirty rivers, low water quality, garbage accumulation, and damaged sidewalks. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the country functions despite all difficulties. He gave examples of cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, noting that the fear of being attacked, robbed, or randomly assaulted by a stranger in these cities feels less acute than in some major European cities.
He also pointed out that strengths of India include the availability of jobs for skilled professionals, easy access to doctors, and service accessibility.
The most interesting aspect of this comparison for Pandya is the attitude towards India's future. He believes that among Indians, there is a stronger sense that the coming days can be better. He posits that infrastructure is rapidly developing in the country, new opportunities are being created, and the pace of change is high. This is why he perceives India as a country 'excited about the future.'
In his opinion, the key difference is this: some residents of Europe miss their better past, whereas a significant portion of the Indian population is full of hope for the future.
However, not all social media users agreed with this viewpoint. One user asked: if life in India is better than in Europe, then why do so many Indians dream of moving to Europe or America? Another commentator suggested that people tend to notice the conveniences they lack, and that routine things become ordinary while unusual things become attractive. Yet another user, citing migration trends, stated that people demonstrate their preferences through their decisions, and the demand to move from India to Europe and America remains high.
On the other hand, many users supported Pandya's optimism regarding India. One wrote that India's infrastructure is developing rapidly, cleanliness is improving, and opportunities are increasing. Another user summarized the discussion, asserting that the West is declining while India is rising, which is why the West longs for the past, and Indians look to the future with hope.
