According to Iraqi press reports, Ali Qais, President of the Iraqi Oil Company, noted the successful completion of the operation to transport two million barrels of Iraqi crude oil beyond the Strait of Hormuz.
Ali Qais emphasized that this operation, which involved a large tanker, was carried out thanks to a contract with a foreign company whose name was not disclosed.
The President of the Iraqi Oil Company also stated that instructions are currently being developed to engage in dialogue with relevant authorities to quickly find opportunities to acquire tankers for crude oil transportation.
Before the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Iraq's oil exports reached a rate of 3.4 million barrels per day. In February, the government announced attempts to reorient its export flows to avoid conflict zones, particularly the Strait of Hormuz.
